Scope and Contents

53 cabinet cards depicting African Americans from the 1880's- 1890's.  Photograph studios are printed on the cards, but personal information concerning those photographed are not labeled.  One cabinet card was taken by a C. E. Cheyne photography in Hampton, Virginia.  The back of the cabinet card says Carrie E. Stules, January 14, 1896.  Three cabinet cards are of "Pete and Lize- Song and Dance" photographed by E. R. Rose, Oswego, Kansas.  They feature two African Americans dressed in vaudeville attire.  One of the images shows Lize making a funny face with her eyes crossed.  There is also a cabinet card to Booker T. Washington taken by Russell and Sons, Windsor, England, reprinted by P.S. Rogers, New York, New York. Other photography studios in the collection include:
