Scope and Contents

Manuscript copies of Kentucky and Virginia documents, 1799-1803, relating to the boundary settlement between the two states.

May 1803 document is headed, "Agreement between the commissioners of the State of Virginia and Kentucky relative to the boundary lines between the said states" and includes two seals, one of James Garrard, Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and Henry Tomin.   The July 1803 document is headed, "General Assembly begun and held at the capitol in the City of Richmond, on Monday the second day of December, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and ninetynine...an act for confirming and establishing the boundary line between the state and the state of Kentucky ascertained and fixed by certain commissioners appointed by both states, and for ... January 14, 1800...

Last page is dated July 1803 and signed by John Page, Governor of Virginia, with the Seal of the Commonwealth.
