Herbert H. Vreeland was a member of the American Expeditionary Service and after World War I, served in military intelligence. He rose to the reserve rank of brigadier general. He served as assistant registrar at Yale and on the faculties of Philips Academy, Andover, Mass. and Smith College. He was headmaster of Hamden Hall Country Day School, New Haven, Conn.
