The Endowment Association of the College of William and Mary in Virginia, Incorporated, founded in 1939, changed its name to The College of William and Mary Foundation on July 1, 2006. The Foundation's mission is “to aid, strengthen, and expand in every proper and useful way the work, usefulness and objects of” the College. The William and Mary Foundation manages the College's endowments, including the Athletic Educational Foundation and the Marshall-Wythe School of Law Foundation.
The Foundation is run by a professional staff along with a board of trustees made up of alumni and friends of the College. The trustees work with alumni, faculty, staff and others to obtain funding for scholarships, fellowships, professorships, facilities, and research.
