Alma Rachel Margaret Lucas (nee Alma R.M. Farrar) was the eldest daughter of Daniel J. Farrar and Leah Belle Holmes was born in 1890. She graduated from Armstrong High School, a business course at Van de Vyver College (Richmond), and an AB and LLB from Virginia Union University. She taught school from 1908 to 1917, married Ashby Lucas of Richmond and raised her children but went back to teaching in 1923. She taught until her health related retirement in 1957. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church. Her daughter, Yvonne Lucas Jackson born in 1918, committed suicide in 1953. Alma died in May 1958. She was survived by her sister Leah, a son Farrar Ashby Lucas, two granddaughters, Janith Finely Parks, and Pharrar Joy Lucas, 2 grandsons, Farrar Jr. and Charles Lucas and nieces and nephews.
