Historical Note
William and Mary student (1906-1911) and faculty member (1907-1908; 1910-1914). He studied medicine at John Hopkins University and served in both World War I and World War II. Koontz achieved international prominence for his work in hernia surgery, was active against socialized medicine, and traveled extensively.
