Historical Note
Franklin L. Riley was professor at University of Mississippi and Washington and Lee University. He was born in Hebron, Lawrence County, Miss., graduated from Mississippi College and did his graduate work at Johns Hopkins University. He married Fanny T. Leigh in 1891 and had seven children, including Edward Miles Riley, Director of Research at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
